Hotel Gotham gets ready to launch

There’s some exciting news on the horizon for Manchester! This April will see the launch of a pretty magnificent 5* hotel on Kings Street in the heart of the city centre. The interior looks absolutely stunning and we have a few cheeky pictures to share with you!

The architecture of the ‘King of King Street’ provided natural inspiration for the nostalgic yet decadent design direction. The design of the new bedrooms features wonderful travel trunk-style cocktail cabinets and wardrobes. Burnished metals teamed with dark polished woods and luxurious leather, are coupled with feminine notes of plum and raspberry; while soft velvet and faux fur are used liberally. Subtle nods are being made to the banking past with money-bag style laundry bags.

The finished hotel will spread over seven floors, with 60 rooms. The reception and restaurant will be on the 6th floor with a striking bar on the 7th. The hotel will include five inner sanctum suites.

Internal restoration includes the reincarnation of the main stair case, its balustrades, mouldings and terrazzo flooring. Original glazed tiles from the once central lightwell add an interesting back drop to the core of the bar where guests will sense a connection to the hotel’s past as a bank; leather satchel briefcase lights, bowler hat displays, green glass and bankers lamps all pay homage to the original function of the building.

Striking geometric carpets run throughout and the dramatic windows surrounding the building will all be dressed with full-length elegant curtains, offering fascinating views across Manchester.

The bar and restaurant, ‘Brass’ and ‘Honey’ continue the theme and colourways, promising the mysterious and enticing. Menus and cocktails will reflect the art deco heritage, and feature local suppliers and tastes.

Lead-designer, Oliver Redfern commented: “We wanted to pay tribute to a major building designed by ‘one of the greatest British architects’, Edwin Lutyens whilst injecting a distinct fresh personality. We hope our guests will have as much fun at Hotel Gotham as we have had in creating it”.
